Maritime Economic Development

Mohr_John Monitors, collects and disseminates information pertaining to the role of ports as catalysts for maritime industrial development in their communities, including ongoing review of relevant laws, regulations, programs and initiatives. Provides a forum for the exchange of innovative approaches to maritime industrial development, and raises public awareness about the role of ports in maritime industrial development; and development issues.

Risk Management and Safety

Monitors, collects and distributes information and data relating to port safety and risk management/ insurance including the development of port safety awareness programs, training programs, fire protection programs and standards, and "safe equipment" techniques. This also includes the ongoing review of all relative laws and regulations.

AAPA Policy Committees

There are three policy committees that are limited in membership and activity by virtue of the AAPA Bylaws or by tradition, as in the case of the Projects and Publications Committee.


U.S. Legislative Policy Council

The United States Legislative Policy Council (LPC) is composed of Executive Committee members who are officers or employees of the United States Corporate members of the Association. The Chairman of the U.S. delegation serves as chairman of the LPC and the next highest ranking United States officer serves as vice chairman. The LPC meets with the President and staff at the annual convention and at the meeting of the Board of Directors during March or April and as necessary upon the call of the chairman. The LPC reviews the legislation and governmental relations program and activities of the Association and guides the President in carrying out the policies of the Association.
